Three-part harmonies and a delicately dosed mixture of contemporary and traditional folk make the music of Gracie, Heide Peverelle, and Jeanie Pilkington a penetrating sound experience full of moments of sheer delight. As the Folk Bitch Trio, the project has become known over the last few years in their hometown of Melbourne for highly emotional concerts that make you forget the stress of everyday life and the state of the world for a while. Live escapism without negative side effects, so to speak. Songs such as “Edie” (2020) as well as the sun-drenched lightness of “Analogue” and “I Heard” – which were released as a double single last year – show the trio as songwriters with the right amount of understatement.
