At the age of 10, she was playing drums, taking lessons and gaining her first experience in school bands. She then taught herself guitar, bass and piano, took singing lessons and slowly but steadily developed into a multi-instrumentalist of a particularly daring calibre. Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen - legends of the Americana scene of the 70s and 80s are now godfathers of a sound that the all-rounder from Unna translates into wonderfully touching songs such as ‘Same Light’ or ‘Oh Brother’ (2022) right from the start. Support gigs for the Giant Rooks and Leoniden, as well as the release of her debut EP ‘Lose Yourself’, have made her a sought-after singer-songwriter, leaving her eyes moist at Melt! and Southside, as well as at c/o Pop and here in Hamburg. Last year, she was rightly nominated at the New Music Awards. This year she is celebrating her return to the Reeperbahn Festival with new song material. About time, dear Philine!
