Lézard
It's slightly uncanny how contemporary Lézard's sound is, despite all the obvious influences. The Geneva quintet conjure up memories of the eccentric synth pop of Falco, plus the playful new wave escapades of Devo and the quirky dance punk from the best days of LCD Soundsystem and XTC - yet the band still manages to stamp its own sound. The single "Nothing At All" is already proof that the band's piquant grooves are built on a solid base of technical skill on the instruments but also an instinctive feel for hysterical bursts of energy. Live, the band delivers exactly that: a boogie wonderland for eccentrics, outcasts and lost souls partying together into the sunset until nobody's left standing. If you want to experience the Lézard mania for yourself and get hooked, come to Hamburg in September.
