Downright festive and uplifting, Aysanabee’s style is a surprising marriage of indie rock and soul, electronic soundscapes, and plaintive saxophones that conjure up various moods. Equal parts hypnotic and melodic, the music of the singer–songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is characterised by his life experiences as part of the Oji-Cree Nation in Northwestern Ontario. With singles such as “Ego Death” and “Nomads” (2022), he became a beacon of hope for indigenous music in Canada two years ago and was its first representative to climb to Nr. 1 in the CBC Music Charts. His debut album, “Watin” (2022), was named after his grandfather and also marked a milestone for indigenous music in Canada, which he has once again brought to the attention of international feature pages with his latest EP, “Here And Now”, especially as the first indigenous artist ever to receive the prestigious JUNO Award for Album of the Year. Now, he will finally be on stage with us for the first time.
