Nina is a seasoned music industry professional and academic with a diverse background in performance, management, and research. As the Director and Founder of MusicSeen, she has developed the "Yellow Pages" of Liverpool's music scene, supporting the grassroots sector and fostering a vibrant local music community.
Nina's career includes significant roles as a bassist for bands such as Hannah's Little Sister and Pink Kink, where she secured record deals and extensively toured the UK and Europe. She is also a passionate radio show host, presenting "Plattenschatz im Schattenplatz," which focuses on women in music and gender equality.
Currently, Nina is pursuing a PhD on Gender Equality in the German Music Industry, focusing on identifying effective solutions to overcome gendered barriers within the sector. She also plays a key role in the Live Music Mapping Project, building and analyzing a comprehensive database of Liverpool’s music-related businesses.
Nina’s academic contributions extend to teaching at both the University of Liverpool and LIPA, where she specializes in Popular Music Studies and Music Industry modules, guiding students through their academic and professional development.
Her extensive industry experience, combined with her academic research and dedication to supporting grassroots music and advancing gender equality, equips her with a unique perspective on the evolving music landscape. Her insights into both the practical and theoretical aspects of the industry make her a valuable voice on the challenges and opportunities facing today’s music professionals.
