Gender inequality remains a pressing issue in the music industry. This presentation reveals new findings from an in-depth analysis of gender representation in Germany’s music scene. We will examine the latest data on female and gender-expansive artists in the German Top 100 Charts explore gender diversity in festival line-ups from 2023 and review artist rosters from major German record labels. This research offers a detailed view of the current state of gender diversity in German music highlighting key areas of imbalance and providing fresh insights into the industry’s ongoing challenges.
