After more than a decade in the film and TV industry, Gerhard Maier became editor-in-chief of two of Germany’s biggest entertainment magazines. Prior to that, he accompanied films and series through their entire life cycle by identifying relevant markets and writing customised press books, articles, and reviews. Since 2014, Gerhard Maier has been utilising his obsession with series in a different way: He is part of the founding trio of Seriencamp, Germany’s first festival and conference dedicated exclusively to storytelling in film and television series. As artistic director, he curates formats, hires speakers, and also heads the festival’s programme team. When he is not working at Seriencamp or curating conferences such as Reeperbahn Festival or the Input[gt]Output Symposium, he works as a guest lecturer at film schools and training programmes such as Midpoint.
