Before Jordan Cardy became musically active, he spent a lot of his free time doodling and sketching out ideas. The first song ideas that he uploaded to Soundcloud as RAT BOY after losing his job in a pub were accordingly informal and unconventional. But that was a blessing because the first demos brought Cardy to the attention of a certain Drew McConnell, who arranged a record deal with the venerable Parlophone label and kick-started RAT BOY’s career. Today, the young singer–songwriter is well established in the UK, having released two acclaimed albums in recent British punk rock history with “Scum” (2017) and “Internationally Unknown” (2019) and setting underground venues on fire with his live band. His new single, “Suburbia Calling”, was released this year and breathes into life the spirit of the alternative sound of the 90s à la Beck or Weezer garnished with a completely unique flavour. Highly individual in the studio as well as on stage, his gig in Hamburg is predestined for fans of unconventional guitar music.
