On the one hand, there’s the picturesque forest scenery of Sweden, while on the other hand, there’s the concrete skylines of the Ruhr area: Stina Holmquist incorporates the dichotomy of nature and civilisation into her sound as the one ingredient that makes the recipe truly sing. But it’s not just the ingredients of indie, pop, or folk that turn songs such as “Back Where We Started” into catchy tunes with an individually biographical character: Holmquist’s poetic lyrics and charismatic vocals – which are often reminiscent of Lykke Li or Lana del Ray – also contribute to the radiance of her music. Although her acclaimed debut EP, “It Dances On The Windowsill”, was released only this year, Stina Holmquist was already able to win over crowds and move them to tears on various festival stages in 2023 and went on tour with German indie greats Giant Rooks and Leoniden. Now, it’s high time for a trip to Hamburg.
