Pablu
It’s always the same: As soon as Pablu has placed one of his catchy tunes on the relevant streaming platforms, it garners hundreds of thousands of clicks within a very short space of time – all without PR, without a major deal, and without fancy Insta campaigns. The likeable singer–songwriter with the moustache has only been making music for a short time and records everything in his home studio because he doesn’t have the means for more. But his setup is also entirely sufficient. Pablu’s sound uses the minimalist setting as an engine for creativity that achieves a lot with very little. EPs such as “Bei dir melden” (2023), whose title track rotates somewhere between funk grooves, synthpop, and slacker charm, and his new single, “So sein wie wir sind”, surf their very own version of the latest New German Wave, sounding at once incredibly contemporary but also damn timeless. That’s what happens when a creative mind puts the pedal to the metal, doesn’t care about trends or expectations, and does their own thing. And who wouldn’t want to celebrate that? We will surely have plenty of opportunities to do so in September.
