Jacob Alon
Telling stories whilst at the same time performing a gentle soul striptease - this is not just Jacob Alon's thing, but more like his destiny. The Scottish singer-songwriter creates intimate songs about being alone and love, about the rapid ephemerality of everything we so desperately want to hold on to. The sensitivity he shows in not only addressing difficult topics but also alluding to and singing about them is astonishing, especially given the early musical training he received from his mother. He learnt to play the piano and guitar as a child, but his sources of inspiration - as is often the case - didn't come until his early youth. It was luminaries such as Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake, but also Rufus Wainwright and Adrianne Lenker, who fired the impetuous and urgent Jacob Alon to new things. This unbridled desire for expression is still evident in each of his lines, every movement and word. He'll be showcasing all this live on stage in September with his great feeling for the right notes at the right moment.
