Hotel Mira
The story of Hotel Mira is colourful, on a level equal to that of their songs testament to life's trials and turmoil. Since the early 2010s, the foursome from Vancouver have established themselves as a hard-driving live act, but they also bring outstanding storytelling and conceptually mature albums to the table.Whether we’re talking about their debut album ‘Circulation’ (2014), recorded at the time under the name JPNSGRLS, or the soul striptease turned soundtrack ‘Perfectionism’ (2020) with its profoundly candid songs about mental health and self-acceptance: the band led by front man Charlie Kerr is without question one of Canada’s most interesting indie rock bands in the last twenty years. Last year, they went one better with album number four “I Am Not Myself” (2023), creating anthems for outcasts - for anyone suffering a lack of recognition in this world. The message has been clear since Hotel Mira started, but it’s now been amped up a level or three: you’re not alone, so come on, let's yell together.
