Widely involved and experienced in the art scene in Hamburg, Jesseline Preach is an interdisciplinary artist who is active wherever the boundaries of the present are tested. Known by a variety of different alter-egos, she used her experience to found the label and collective “One Mother” with Natascha P. a few years ago to realise not only her own artistic visions, but also those of other People of Colour, femmes, and anarchopunks – away from the mainstream and avoiding the bourgeois-patriarchal-majority society. Her debut album, “Likör” (2020), put the singer, songwriter, and producer on the radar of the underground scene in the Hanseatic city as an impetuously idiosyncratic DIY artist. With deeply physical beats, snappy lyrics, and an irresistible pop appeal in every track, the Preach sound is influenced by trippy hip-hop as well as by danceable pop and the virtues of contemporary R’n’B reformers. It’s therefore no surprise that her sound has blown everyone away – from Deutschlandfunk Kultur to Splash Mag to the Krach & Getöse jury, who have seen her indomitable stage presence firsthand. One of the next opportunities to do so will be with us in September.
