Our Shame
For many bands, it often takes years or even decades to go from a school project that starts out for fun to a group for whom making music is the primary purpose in life. For Our Shame, however, it all happened much faster. Since their first EP, “Good Things Happen” (2019), the duo from Taiwan have become one of the most interesting projects in Taipei’s vibrant music scene with a stylish mix of indie pop and folktronica and have also made a name for themselves beyond the city’s borders. Their debut album, “Modern Problem” (2022), was the result of many years of hard work and tells a story that is often ignored or downplayed, especially in urban areas: the state of man in an artificial environment that leaves him isolated and lonely. Xiao Ao and Isan approach this complex topic in a variety of ways, draw large narrative circles, and are not afraid to explore new influences for their sound, which is quite unique in Taiwan. And now, the duo will be bringing exquisite compositions, weightless atmospheres, and soulful vocals live to our stage in September.
