Natalie Bergman
The loss of a loved one can break us or inspire us in unexpected ways to find new, different forms of living. The death of her parents in 2019 hit Natalie Bergman like a sledgehammer, but she processed her grief and thoughts on the beautiful gospel-folk album ‘Mercy’ (2021) in such a touching way that she received critical acclaim. It’s spiritual reflection on life and death that plays with elements of psychedelic soul as well as with contemporary folk, spirituals, and indie pop. Her sound design also impressed indie legend Beck, who subsequently recorded two songs with her. This was followed by the ‘Live At Electric Lady’ EP (2021) – a tribute to the luminary Jimi Hendrix – which was also enthusiastically received. Apart from a few concerts, the versatile singer–songwriter then went quiet, although she still managed to rack up millions of streams on Spotify. Concentrating on her own life, music, and faith takes centre stage and flows into new song material, which she will perform with us for the first time in September.
