JACOTÉNE
Not even an adult and yet already blessed with a world-class voice, JACOTÉNE made waves in the Australian music scene two years ago with an incredible a cappella performance of her song “I Need Therapy”. The then-16-year-old singer–songwriter showed shades in her timbre that were reminiscent of past greats of soul such as Amy Winehouse and that were more in keeping with an artist with many years of experience. But here she is, more ambitious today than ever and now something of a legend in the making. At the end of last year, she proved once again with “Don’t Let Him Say Goodbye” that the advance praise is by no means too much of a good thing. The song is nothing less than an indomitable, powerful anthem for self-empowerment and also for the emotional chaos that exists amidst the regret and confusion at the end of human relationships, which we all have to deal with again and again. JACOTÉNE’s own experiences and her successful battle against leukaemia have made her an artist who knows how to realise a very personal musical vision that refuses to bow down to superficial hype. Once you have seen her live, you will never forget it.
