Esther Graf
The independence and self-confidence with which Esther Graf pursues her artistic vision is nothing short of impressive. Since taking part in the ORF programme “Die große Chance der Chöre” as a soloist in her Salzburg school choir, the Austrian songwriter has been on a constant path to success in her unconventional musical career. The singer – who also works as a model – released her debut EP, “Red Flags” (2022), with major label RCA Sony and – together with Emily Roberts – also hosts the monthly programme “Vitamin E” on Radio Fritz. The energetic pop from Graf’s pen quickly made waves and spoke to more than just young tweens. Singles such as “exes” (2023) and “überall” (2024) combine fresh pop appeal with a danceable indie sound while being equally modern and yet also reminiscent of the coolness of international female artists of the early 2000s. Even the feature with SDP and Sido – “Mama hat gesagt” (2024) – managed to conjure up a nostalgic sweetness that is no coincidence, and within just a few months, it has racked up well over 10 million streams. Now, Esther Graf has arrived at the centre of the German-language music landscape and is undoubtedly here to stay. If you don’t believe it, you have a date with the likeable jack-of-all-trades in Hamburg in September.
