Emil Ráste Karlsen's artistic work moves at the intersection of tradition and modernity, between loss, preservation and recovery. He represents his Sámi roots in a unique way and has already established himself as a musician, composer, producer and actor who preserves the cultural heritage of the Sámi in the modern art scene and sheds new perspectives on indigenous culture in the 21st century. With his former band Resirkulert, he released two studio albums and won several awards. His first solo album, Nagirvárrái, was created in collaboration with renowned musicians such as Lávre, Katarina Barruk, Hildá Länsman and the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra. Karlsen has also played significant roles in the Sámi National Theatre, including the bear hunter Ol-Tomså and Jussi in Guovžža vuoššat, the dramatisation of Mikael Niemi's novel To Cook a Bear. He also plays this role in the upcoming Disney+ series.
