Musically socialised in Gothenburg, Sweden, twin brothers Johnny and Sammy Bennett have always had an ear to the underground scenes of LA and London since their youth. There, where hip-hop and punk were coined, they found the ingredients for tracks such as the extremely danceable ‘Chikken At The Mall’ and the grooving bass-pop of ‘Wet Paint’ that have led to millions of clicks on the relevant streaming platforms. So far, the duo have mainly released singles. But that’s all changing this year. Their debut album, ‘Forget In Mass’, brings together everything the two artists have already unpacked, built up, and put to the test on the magnificent EPs ‘Among Heads’ (2022) and ‘Fluent Stutter’ (2023). Stylistically inspired by House Of Pain and Roni Size, from Sleaford Mods to the grandees of acid jazz in the 90s, from neo-soul to indietronica, Deki Alem celebrate an eclectic sound with massive hype potential. The name of the game can be found in the advance single ‘Fun’ – and that’s because the duo make music that is always insanely fun. Even more so live than on your home speakers.
