Bremer/McCoy
Double bassist Jonathan Bremer and keyboard trickster Morten McCoy on the Wurlitzer float over pieces of such elegance on an almost-enraptured Zen frequency that drifting away seems unavoidable. For more than ten years, the Danish duo have been successfully blending delicate chamber jazz with the sounds of Danish folklore and electronic sideways towards ambient and tape music. Whether on their debut, ‘Enhed’ (2013), on the summery, dimmed ‘Utopia’ (2019), or on the incredibly atmospheric declaration of love to the night ‘Natten’ (2021), the duo create new sound paintings with limited instruments time and again that are worth immersing yourself in. The images of this mental cinema lie somewhere between Limfjord and Lolland and shimmer subtly yet succinctly – like a shadow play under treetops. It’s music that seems to be modelled on the colours and contrasts of nature. Thanks to Bremer/McCoy’s soft tones and sublime harmonies, their concerts stay in your memory for a long time.
