Angus Field, Dallas Woods, and Nooky have already experienced a lot as friends and musical companions. The Australian trio with indigenous roots bring together not only the Aboriginal population and inhabitants of the Torres Strait Islands on the red continent under the name 3%, but also an artistic vision. The three have nothing less as a goal on the planet than the liberation of the oldest living culture. The road to this goal is paved with heavy beats and socially critical lyrics that scrutinise the heritage of the First Nations and Australia’s history. At a time when old wounds Down Under are being reopened by social and political incidents, the group’s debut single, “Our People”, has special significance. With anthemic force and inspiration from the track of the same name by the band The Presets, right from the start of their career, 3% set a strong signal for human rights, civil courage, and hip-hop – and it looks like people are listening.
