re:publica Hamburg @ Reeperbahn Festival

re:publica - the festival for the digital society - is coming back to Hamburg: from 19 to 21 September, Europe's largest digital and social conference will present discussions, lectures, workshops, performances and more for the second time as part of the Reeperbahn Festival. The most important topics relating to the internet, its communities and the opportunities and challenges that lie in the digitalisation of society will be discussed on three stages in the Festival Village on Heiligengeistfeld. At the heart of the festival, we look forward to interaction and inspiring dialogue with players from Hamburg's creative and cultural scene, the re:publica community and Reeperbahn Festival visitors.

Among other things, we talk about the shift to the right in our society and our commitment to countering it. We discuss the super election year 2024 and the influence and role of internet culture in the election campaign as well as the impact of the results on digital policy. And: At Reeperbahn Festival, re:publica will focus more than ever on the topic of ‘music’ - whether it's about generational change in the music industry, club culture or the role of technology in curation. We will also be focusing on Hamburg as a city in the programme. We are interested in the city's development as a digital, economic, scientific and creative centre, as a place for social engagement and a hub for sustainable entrepreneurship, as a place for sustainable urban design and activism.

Among others with:

Emilia Roig (she/they), bestselling author & political scientist

On 23 September 2024, Emilia Roig (she/they), bestselling author and political scientist, will publish her new book ‘LIEBEN’, which they will present and discuss exclusively at re:publica in Hamburg. In his most personal work to date, Roig makes a hopeful plea for contemporary forms of love and care.

Conny Zhang (she / her), Head of Music Central Europe Spotify & Peggy Adamu (she/her) / Head of Content Strategy & Operations at Sony Music Germany

Conny Zhang (Head of Music, Central Europe at Spotify) and Francis Gay (freelance (music) journalist, author, DJ and curator as well as former Head of Music at WDR COSMO) discuss together with Peggy Adamu (Head of Content Strategy and Operations at Sony Music Germany) how playlists are curated on streaming services and on the radio, which technologies are used and how these processes influence the music world

Mohamed Amjahid, journalist & author

The (investigative) journalist and author talks about his new book (Let's Talk About Sex, Habibi. Love and Desire from Casablanca to Cairo), which deals with the systematic abuse of power by the police. He presents cases of police violence that are thought-provoking, upsetting and outrageous. He then discusses with the audience what can be done about the uniformed problem in Germany.
