SKUPPIN’s vocals echo into the here and now as if from a long-forgotten dream. The singer–songwriter’s timbre sounds dark blue when he raises his voice and casts a spell over his audience. Inspired by the echoing synth-pop of the 80s, translated with contemporary production methods and harmonic details along with guaranteed goosebumps, songs such as “Taumeln” and “Verlierer” immediately get into the listener’s bloodstream. Heart and brain are energised, and music that lies somewhere between fight and flight, darkwave and poetry emerges. That’s how the soul breaks free into unimagined depths, where the sound of SKUPPIN falls on fertile ground. The driving beats and dark atmospheres that he realised this year on his first studio album, “Reliquien” (2024), are often reminiscent of Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, and Edwin Rosen. At the same time, however, they also mark the very own signature of a songwriter whose skills we are only just beginning to be realised. And he will show us in September that he also knows how to demonstrate these skills live on stage.
The measure is co-financed with tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
