After studying music production, Jonas Hipper actually wanted to work mainly as a beat maker in the background by providing others with tracks and devoting himself to his own art in peace. After working with artists such as 2lade, Carlo5, and Tigermilch, though, the native Swabian and Cologne resident is now being drawn into the limelight. His first singles, such as “Es ist spät” and “ich brenn für dich”, have already set the tone for where the journey is to take him from now on: deep into the madness of the big city, armed with mirrors, cigarettes, and a knack for sophisticated tracks. These tracks are neither pop nor indie, neither lo-fi nor highlife, neither bedroom nor rooftop terrace – they lie somewhere in between. frytz puffs on his cigarette and does his own thing at his own pace. Accordingly, his debut EP, “Unter meiner Haut”, provides a soundtrack for the poetry of everyday urban life that is both relaxed and haunting.
