Baby Rose
Neo-soul that flows into the ear like amber-coloured syrup and never comes out: What Jasmine Rose Wilson has been creating with tireless creativity and emancipatory impetus since her debut, “To Myself” (2019), is the therapy that the genre has been in dire need of for years. Currently based in Atlanta, Georgia, the singer–songwriter and pianist can undoubtedly be counted among the great new voices in the US music world. Possessing a distinctive voice with an impressive range, sensitivity to harmony and instrumentation, outstanding production values and poetic lyrics – as Baby Rose, she does so much right, you’d think she’s been in the business for decades. Last year, her second album, “Through And Through” (2023), once again underlined the level of songs that Wilson drops off the cuff and also why she is in good hands with the tastemakers at Secretly Canadian. She will celebrate her German premiere with us in September. Anyone who wants to proudly claim to have been there in ten years’ time knows what to do.
