BACKSPIN has been a permanent institution for hip-hop in Germany since 1994. We have not only accompanied the development of the culture, but actively helped to shape it. In this panel, we look back on three decades in which BACKSPIN has played a key role in defining hip-hop in Germany. We explore the beginnings of the scene, the importance of the city of Hamburg and the development that German rap has undergone to date.
