From the echoes of 80s pop to krautrock and French chansons, Zaho de Sagazan has already drawn on many an influence when it comes to creating her output. The singer with perhaps the coolest pseudonym of the last twenty years – which is actually her real name – is already seen as the great hope of the nouvelle chanson française. Her debut, “La symphonie des éclairs”, was released in 2023 to widespread acclaim in the arts pages and presents more than just a virtuoso fusion of different styles ranging from French pop to minimal synth to electro to chansons. As a composer and multi-instrumentalist of a new format, she also demonstrates how diverse yet consistent her songwriting already is.
