Soft Launch
Soft Launch haven't done much wrong so far in their still fledgling career. The London quintet dropped their first single a few months ago and are already being wooed by Declan McKenna on BBC Radio 1 as though they're the next Arctic Monkeys. Perhaps not unjustly - the debut single "Cartwheels" and follow-up "Piano Hands" testify to the amazingly stylish, intelligent yet catchy songwriting of all parties involved. Musically, though, everything here remains in a state of flux as Josh, Henry, Conor and Ben not only take turns singing, but also like to switch seats on the instruments. Soft Launch sometimes jokingly characterise themselves as a boy band, although this would only be true if the term were defined as a cross between Vampire Weekend, The Beatles and Harry Styles. Instead, these five guys are doing their very own thing and are well aware of this despite not having released a single record. But that's on the cards pretty soon.
