Between the zeros and ones whizzing by, Emili Bosch and Malcus Codolà have found an undulating signature sound that has what it takes to blow up clubs all over Europe. The duo from Barcelona let themselves be locked in a pulsating light cage on stage, creating visual outbursts and patterns to match their sound. On their latest release, “Blue Screen” (2024), this sound is characterised by French electro and house in the tradition of Justice, but also by nu-disco and synthwave, which has recently been flooding the dance floors of Europe. The result oscillates between electronic experimentation and pop, but the musicians also know how to utilise the good-old art of sampling, for example, when forks or shoe boxes are recorded, modulated, and integrated. It’s hardly surprising that the musicians have already caused jaws to drop at festivals such as Sónar. So, buckle up: For their gig in Hamburg, they will be bringing fresh material.
