No time for bitterness – Zartmann (whose name literally means “bitter man”) already sensed the spirit of the New Twenties while others were still putting out feelers. But the Berlin jack-of-all-trades with the grating voice only made his debut at the beginning of 2021. It was the soulful rap ballad “2 Blocks” that immediately earned him airplay on tasteful radio stations across the country and caused quite a stir – even outside the bubble of the capital. Since then, he has eloquently mocked the fast-paced, flashy lifestyle of Gen Z, as in the track “Komm mit an die Bar” (“come along to the bar”) and as reflected on the merry-go-round ride we call life in “Schon witzig” (“quite funny”). But he always hits a soft spot between danceable pop, powerful beats, and a lyrical delivery that is nothing short of genuine spoken word. What belongs together comes together: In September, he will finally be coming to Hamburg for the first time.
