Named after a classic by krautrock legends Can, Yoo Doo Right owe a lot to their obvious inspirations, but stylistically, they have found a completely unique language. This can clearly be heard on their much-acclaimed debut album, “Don’t Think You Can Escape Your Purpose” (2021), with a force that echoes from their hometown of Montreal to the deepest record cellars of Europe. Krauty jams meet interstellar walls of sound, and spherical moments meet the immersive power of a fully formulated sci-fi epic that is worth losing yourself in. But the journey did not end there. Barely a year later, the trio delivered the next movie for closed eyes in the summer of 2022 and raised the bar a few meters higher in the field of psychedelic post-rock with “A Murmur, Boundless To The East”. Apparently, the Canadians can do whatever they want: A bad song never comes out of it, no matter how bombastic the scenarios or how surreal the experimental cross-references. If you really need further proof, just listen to the EP “The Sacred Fuck” (2024), which was recently released by the tastemakers from Mothland, and hype yourself up for a concert trip to Hamburg.
