It’s no coincidence that flowery anglicisms quickly buzz through the air when describing Versacer’s sound. The music of the quartet – whose members are scattered across Berlin, Hanover, and Munich – is bursting with life, love, and harmony on the one hand without ever seeming overwrought or kitschy. On the other hand, the band like to play with German–English text combinations, making their sound and lyrics both deep and tongue-in-cheek. Songs such as “Liebe so schwer” and “Overdriver” bear witness to this as well as to a certain understatement that the band cultivate. No genres, no airs and graces, no boundaries – Versacer are in a state of flux while somehow remaining slick and fresh. Just the right vibe for celebrating life in September.
