Urbannino
Tears of joy mingle with beads of sweat and the certainty of a great moment: A concert by Urbannino always ends in ecstasy. With EPs of the calibre of “Zimmer leer, Kopf leer” (2021) and “Zoff” (2023), the electrified singer–songwriter from Hamburg has recently made hearts from several camps beat faster. Regardless as to whether you count yourself among the indie crowd, the omnipresent bedroom producers, or the very latest New German Wave, this guy’s sound has something for everyone without having to water anything down. Inspired by hip-hop acts from across the pond as well as by NDW legends such as Grauzone and contemporary artists such as Carlo Karacho and SALÒ, Urbannino knows no rigid boundaries when it comes to his very personal creative process. He tries things out and dives in headfirst, infusing his music with various sources of inspiration and clearing away all the clutter. What we have here is a veritable noise-loving jack-of-all-trades with one ear in the record box of the past and one on the streets of the present, harmonising the two with playful ease. It doesn’t get any better than this.
