At first, it was a journey into the psyche, a process of individuation in the midst of Welsh nature. Chloé Davis went in search of clues, wrote songs, and explored the world in her own way in order to find a way into the future. And she could only achieve this through music. With her first EP, “TWST0001” (2020), she found her own path to an autonomous signature sound by combining futuristic electro-pop with glitch and bubble-gum bass to create a surreal kaleidoscope of diverse styles and influences. From the lowest frequencies to the highest pitches, the tracks of the passionate DIY artist are precisely structured and produced with a level of know-how that has become rare these days, especially for self-taught artists. The follow-up, “TWST0002 (Off-World)” (2023), and this year’s remix delicacy, “TWST0002 (Upgraded)” (2024), also reveal a musician who dares to look into her own future and anticipate developments. TWST already sees the world of tomorrow and listens to the sound of the future in order to transcribe it into the present. And that’s just the way music icons tend to emerge.
