It was a Taylor Swift concert that triggered in Tia Gostelow an irresistible urge to create. Even before then, her indigenous roots had repeatedly sprouted up, showing the Australian singer–songwriter how liberating music can be, especially in a spiritual and familial context. Swift, Mumford & Sons, Melody Pool, The Jungle Giants – these are influences of the most diverse kinds that flow together on Gostelow’s debut album, “Thick Skin” (2018). She has refined her artistry within a few years to such an extent that her latest work, “Head Noise” (2023), has become a gem of Australian indie pop. The musician successfully toured Down Under and honed her stage persona. Since then, she has become a major player on the Australian music scene and will be making eyes water in Hamburg this September with new material, including the singles “All Ur Sorrow” and “Taking My Time”.
