Those Without
Many have proclaimed the death of punk over the years. But they have all been wrong. And even if the bar is set very high, there are new bands that are in no way inferior to even the old greats of the genre. The fact that Those Without hail from Örebro in Sweden doesn’t make things any easier – after all, that’s where the legendary Millencolin were founded. Nevertheless, since the release of their second EP, “Neon Minds” (2020), the quintet has come out of the starting block with a power that makes punk hearts beat faster even south of Sweden. In addition to catchy riffs and a powerful rhythm section, it is above all the epic singalong hooks of frontman Oskar Ögren that make the sound of Those Without stand out among other contemporary punk music formations. Their debut album, “Bittersweet” (2021), is a monument to the genre as a whole, but especially to the five Swedes, whose songwriting is influenced by metalcore and thrash as well as by jazz, funk, and modern pop iterations. With unbridled energy, they bring this cocktail to their audience and celebrate a lust for life – both in the studio and on the stage.
