Ski Aggu
Rap reformer and Irish jiu-jitsu champion, party bestie and post-pandemic hero of unrestrained hedonism, piste-less skier, and yesteryear-less nostalgic: if there was one last piece of evidence that we are living in a simulation - Ski Aggu would win the race. Or are we watching postmodern real satire in action as soon as the guy with the chunky Decathlon shades enters the stage? Much remains open here. But this is certain: during the Covid pandemic, the Berlin jack-of-all-trades launched an unparalleled career with tracks like ‘Weißwein & Pappbecher’ or ‘Super Wavy’ (2020). Aggu shakes pop-rap and hip house, euro trance, and atzen techno into a club spritzer that a whole generation across the country is addicted to. Anyone who wants to party or forget their last relationship will find albums such as ‘2022 war Film gewesen’ (2022) or ‘Denk mal drüber nach...’ (2023) provide a few unexpected answers that hardly need to be spelled out. Aggu's sound design ignites more intuitively than analytically, but this is precisely why it can reach an entire generation with songs such as the Otto Waalkes collabo ‘Friesenjung’ or the single ‘mietfrei’ and free them from the burden of the trivial. The most recent album ‘Wilmersdorfer Kind’ (2024) also easily cracked the German album charts and impressively demonstrated that the guy with the mullet is racing away from everyone who believes they have recognised the style of our time. Ski Aggu can do it, because he defines it.
