RAR
When something new begins, the cards are usually only reshuffled. But you can hear in RAR’s sound art that the producer and sound designer follows only his own rules when it comes to letting off steam artistically. In his lavishly furnished home studio, he shoots tracks such as “Etwas Neues beginnt” (“something new is beginning”) and “Maschinenmensch” (“machine man”) into the ether, and the response he is receiving makes it clear that he is one of those DIY musicians who have the potential to achieve cult status in the near future. With a sound that lies somewhere between visceral indietronica, throbbing trip-hop, and adventurous sound experiments, the Berlin-based mushroom enthusiast (the culinary ones, that is!) pitches his tepee, only to tear it down again with the next track. Traditions and trends are not something that RAR cares to follow. On the contrary: He is the error in the system, the sore spot on the palate of the industry, and he refuses to let himself be swallowed up by it. If you don’t believe us, September will give you a rare opportunity to see the style-swivelling jack-of-all-trades for yourself.
