Kasi
Jakob-Kasimir Herbst unabashedly celebrates his laid-back sound, which lies somewhere between retro-affine indie pop and rap. Despite its unobtrusive Cure guitar riffs, this sound is completely in tune with the current zeitgeist. Born in Frankfurt-Bockenheim, the skater and spoken-word singer has been confronted with the stark contrasts of the banking metropolis since his earliest youth: structurally induced poverty on the one hand, obscene wealth on the other. Social dualities and the whole contradictory nature of life are the oil with which he – as Kasi – fuels his songs and develops them into catchy tunes with a socially critical character. Supported by friend and creative colleague Antonius, the style butcher tinkers with tracks that are written and described by life in the pop-cultural province of his adopted home of Freiburg. Culminating in the debut EP “Sommernacht [lt]3” (2023), which was released last September, Kasi’s creative outpourings have since become feel-good hits that have been clicked millions of times and are a sign of the quality of his many concerts, which are constantly sold out. If you want to see him live, you’ll have the chance again in September.
