Jane Weaver
No matter where you drop the needle on the map of the British music underground of the last twenty years, it can’t land too far from Jane Weaver’s rainbow-coloured sphere of influence. Unimpressed by trends, the woman with a penchant for the surreal pursues her own thing and has a finger in every pie, including various band projects, film soundtracks, and features with Coldplay and Can as well as her own label, Bird Records, and the psychedelic solo recordings of an effervescent discography. The singer–songwriter, composer, and guitarist knows what she wants – and that’s a hell of a lot. Her last album, “Flock” (2021), provided solace at the height of the pandemic in the form of ethereal art-pop gems that came across like an idiosyncratic collage of Eno-era Roxy, Tame Impala, and Goldfrapp. Fast forward to the year 2024, and Weaver’s “Love In Constant Spectacle” is the ultimate soundtrack for all those lucky people who have someone by their side in these times. Music with the sound of gratitude – if you want to experience both, come to St. Pauli in September.
