What is allyship? Allyship is an active practice and means acting as an ally, (un)learning socially trained prejudices and behaviours and supporting them in solidarity. As an ally, you use your position and privileges to empower people who are affected by discrimination. An ally can intervene in private and nightlife, but also in the workplace, in front of, behind or on stage and in any other situation. This workshop explores the many dimensions of allyship with the aim of empowering people in moments of civil courage - whether preventative or interventive. It asks: How can I support those affected by racism? What proven dialogue strategies are there for showing moral courage? In ‘How to Allyship’, the speakers provide interactive argumentation training and offer space for self-reflection, dialogue and questions.
