In addition to cheap furniture and meatballs, Sweden also traditionally exports highly capable indie combos that are difficult to categorise. Having released eight albums in eighteen years, Friska Viljor are one of those bands that have not only left their mark on Stockholm’s music scene, but also repeatedly pondered the really important things in life on this side of the Baltic: friendship, freedom, women, and beer. With albums such as “Tour De Hearts” (2008) and “The Beginning Of The Beginning Of The End” (2011), Daniel Johansson and Joakim Sveningsson play their way deep into the souls of their fanbase via festival stages and headphones. Their sound is lauded by fans for its ability to express core elements of what it means to be human. Nobody stands alone, and we’re all in the same boat – that’s what keeps coming out of the “children’s music with grown-up lyrics” (Joakim). It feels like the band have been on tour for the last few years, and in Hamburg, they are on their home turf. Their gig with us will surely be nothing less than euphoric excess in the very best sense.
