“Don’t wait for someone to show your stuff; do it yourself!” Born in true DIY fashion, the American Poster Institute’s Flatstock has come a long way – from their first show in a San Francisco warehouse in 2002 to stops at major festivals such as SXSW Austin, Pitchfork Chicago, Primavera Sound Barcelona, and Corona Capital Mexico. Indispensable since its first iteration, the event is taking place for the 18th time on the Reeperbahn. But while loyal festival fans know Flatstock as a hub for customised concert posters, the team are expanding the range this year. The aim: an even broader spectrum of the best poster art. Film, politics, comedy, theatre, tourism, visual arts – the range has never been so diverse! Styles, regions, generations: The posters provide colourful insights into living, contemporary cultural history. And it certainly doesn’t stop at just marvelling: You can purchase the limited, handmade screen prints and large-format art prints directly. Now, there’s finally a souvenir from the Reeperbahn that isn’t trashy!
