Filippo Bonamici has never really been fond of classic genre pigeonholes, at least when it comes to the design of his highly eclectic songs. The Italian singer–songwriter loves things unusual but concise. A contradiction? Not in the world of Fil Bo Riva, as the Berliner-by-choice has been calling himself for a few years now while combining indie and folk, soul and pop, alternative sounds and catchiness. On his debut album, “Beautiful Sadness” (2019), he has already mastered this stylistic balancing act with flying colours in a wide variety of directions and added another exquisite release to the repertoire of the tastemakers at Humming Records. The single “L’impossibile” even entered the Italian radio charts. After that, things became a little quieter for the DIY artist, who also enjoys arranging and producing alongside songwriting. Most recently, singles such as “Young & Free” and “Running In Circles” (2022) were released, which made it clear that Bonamici is far from running out of ideas. And he was back this spring with the euphoric summer anthem “Lost In Life” in addition to giving the first preview of his second album, “Modern Melancholia”, which will be released in September.
