Felix Herbst
Just do it yourself, but please: Do it! The main thing is to be active and not dream about tomorrow, but to dive right in. That’s how Felix Herbst approaches his rousing songwriting, and he has been right for at least the last year. The newcomer started out quite naïvely as a street musician in the alleys of his hometown of Beienrode near Göttingen, delighting people as he passed by and realising that he didn’t actually need much to fulfil his musical vision. Voice, instruments, and bedroom production? Check. As a DIY artist, he put together a cheeky 80s sound that uses colourful synthesisers as well as technoid beats and melodic sensitivity. Herbst presents all of this with a radiant mood as if it were summer and a vacation at the beach were just around the corner. Because feel-good hits with the carefree lightness of “Seit du weg bist” and “Cruisen” put the listener in a great mood even when the lyrics actually deal with gloomy topics. That’s also a trick that not everyone can pull off so easily. But Felix Herbst is quite a pro at it – as he will be demonstrating live with us in September.
