Between cultures and times, Sarah and Steph Snyder grew up in an environment that unites and reflects the most diverse artistic influences as if in a prism. The sister duo from California are just as familiar with influences from French pop and Bollywood soundtracks as they are with 70s rock and church chorales, which they pick up from their father. The fact that the chemistry between the two is not only human but also musical was practically pre-programmed. With infectious hooks between straightforwardly erotic riffs, the right dose of pop appeal alongside a certain nostalgia for 90s indie rock, the pair brew up just the right mixture as Deer Park Avenue to rethink female fronted rock music. On their debut ‘Deer Park Avenue’ (2016), they succeeded in doing just that, taking into account all the important markers: vocals, arrangements, production, presentation. More recently, however, the EPs ‘Strut’ (2023) and ‘Pink Champagne’ (2024) also showed that this duo is capable of developing their sound signature and sounding mercilessly fresh at the same time.
