Originally from the poetry scene, she filters snapshots of life through her own writings, sometimes dryly existentialist, sometimes orientated towards the blood pressure of modernity – or both. But Anna Francesca is more than just a contemporary witness with corresponding songwriting. In songs such as ‘I Dropped The Bottle’ and ‘Dirty Girls’, the artist from Vienna combines cool deadpan vocals and effortlessly grooving basslines to create a minimalist sound for daydreamers for whom the trials and tribulations of the post-Covid age have become too much. ‘How do dreams work? Will I wake up if I die?’ – Who really knows? In any case, it seems obvious that she has hit a nerve with this songwriting and her laconic lyrics. After all, her festival calendar for this summer is already completely filled up and includes dates in Belgium, Switzerland, and Germany. A visit to us in Hamburg therefore also seems obligatory – for Beaks as well as for all tasteful sleepwalkers with open eyes.
