When Anna Ternheim sings, it's as if everything stands utterly still for a moment. Her voice conveys stories that veer between melancholy and hope. Born in Stockholm, Anna quickly found in music a place of refuge. First came the piano, then the guitar, and later lyrics. As a teenager, she oscillated between two worlds – a Swedish normality and a longing for the big wide beyond. In her early twenties, she was lured to New York. In the seclusion of a room in Brooklyn, she created her first great songs. Her music – pared down, vulnerable, and uncompromisingly honest – provided a counterpoint to the outside world. Today, Anna is back in Sweden – or rather, between countries, between languages, between sounds. Her music has matured, and its composure has become even sharper.
